Part 15, Subpart B, Class B |
1The GILDA-L1 has been demonstrated to provide excellent weak signal location performance at 400 feet distance from a low level noise source with transmitted power density of -40 dBm/MHz in an open outdoor environment.
2The unit’s ability to discern the location of a source of interference is based on several aspects of the GILDA-L1 performance. First, the sensitivity of the internal radio receiver is important because this is a measure of the receiver’s ability to “pull out” the signal from the background ambient noise. Secondly, the user utilizes the GILDA-L1’s audio cueing signal to determine the direction of arrival of the interference. The ability of the operator to ascertain the peak of the audio signal is a secondary factor. As a result, the GILDA-L1’s ability to determine direction of arrival of the interference depends on the receiver detection performance, the internal antenna’s beam width, and the behavior and the operator’s perception of the audio cueing signal as the user physically scans a given area or sector. Due to the homing nature, the DF accuracy is not readily quantifiable in terms of rms error in degrees. An inexperienced user should be able to achieve +/- 5 degrees DF accuracy while an experienced user should be able to achieve better accuracy.
3Rated assuming continuous usage, with detection threshold set to minimum threshold, resulting in the audio cueing signal on at 1/3 maximum level, alkaline batteries.
